ACTFL Nov 22-24, 2019 in Washington, DC – Designing a Secondary Spanish Heritage Speaker Curriculum

MCTLC Oct 25-26, 2019 in Minneapolis, MN, Workshop: Digging In: Taking Your Heritage Class to the Next Level. Two experienced high school heritage teachers will help you take your heritage classes to the next level! During this workshop, we will discuss relevant national standards for heritage courses, and how we might tweak what we’re doing to better meet those standards. We will explore how we can teach kids to be better, more independent readers and writers (even if we are not literacy teachers), and why it matters. Participants should bring 1-2 reading and writing assignments they currently use in their heritage courses. A list of possible concrete reading and writing strategies will be provided as a starting point.
